Titus 1
1. Paul <3972>, a servant <1401> of God <2316>, and an apostle
<0652> of Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>, according <2596> to the
faith <4102> of God's <2316> elect <1588>, and the acknowledging
<1922> of the truth <0225> which <3588> is after <2596>
godliness <2150>;
2 In hope <1680> of eternal <0166> life <2222>, which <3739>
God <2316>, that cannot <0893> lie <0893>, promised <1861>
before <4253> the world <0166> began;
3 But hath in due <2398> times <2540> manifested <5319> his
word <3056> through <1722> preaching <2782>, which <3739> is
committed <4100> unto me according <2596> to the commandment
<2003> of God <2316> our Saviour <4990>;
4 To Titus <5103>, [mine] own <1103> son <5043> after <2596>
the common <2839> faith <4102>: Grace <5485>, mercy <1656>,
[and] peace <1515>, from God <2316> the Father <3962> and the
Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547> our Saviour <4990>.
5. For this <5127> cause <5484> left <2641> I thee in Crete
<2914>, that thou shouldest set <1930> in order <1930> the
things that are wanting <3007>, and ordain <2525> elders <4245>
in every <2596> city <4172>, as I had appointed <1299> thee:
6. If <1487> any <1536> be blameless <0410>, the husband <0435>
of one <3391> wife <1135>, having <2192> faithful <4103>
children <5043> not accused <1722> <2724> of riot <0810> or
<2228> unruly <0506>.
7 For a bishop <1985> must <1163> be blameless <0410>, as the
steward <3622> of God <2316>; not selfwilled <0829>, not soon
<3711> angry <3711>, not given <3943> to wine <3943>, no <3361>
striker <4131>, not given to filthy <0150> lucre <0146>;
8 But a lover <5382> of hospitality <5382>, a lover <5358> of
good <5358> men, sober <4998>, just <1342>, holy <3741>,
temperate <1468>;
9 Holding <0472> fast <0472> the faithful <4103> word <3056>
as he hath been taught <1322>, that he may be able <1415> by
sound <5198> doctrine <1319> both <2532> to exhort <3870> and to
convince <1651> the gainsayers <0483>.
10 For there are many <4183> unruly <0506> and vain <3151>
talkers <3151> and deceivers <5423>, specially <3122> they of
the circumcision <4061>:
11 Whose <3739> mouths <1993> must <1163> be stopped <1993>,
who <3748> subvert <0396> whole <3650> houses <3624>, teaching
<1321> things which <3739> they ought <1163> not, for filthy
<0150> lucre's <2771> sake.
12 One <5100> of themselves <0846>, [even] a prophet <4396> of
their own <2398>, said <2036>, The Cretians <2912> [are] alway
<0104> liars <5583>, evil <2556> beasts <2342>, slow <0692>
bellies <1064>.
13 This <3778> witness <3141> is true <0227>. Wherefore <3739>
rebuke <1651> them sharply <0664>, that they may be sound <5198>
in the faith <4102>;
14 Not giving heed <4337> to Jewish <2451> fables <3454>, and
commandments <1785> of men <0444>, that turn <0654> from the
truth <0225>.
15 Unto the pure <2513> all <3956> things [are] pure <2513>:
but unto them that are defiled <3392> and unbelieving <0571>
[is] nothing <3762> pure <2513>; but even <2532> their mind
<3563> and conscience <4893> is defiled <3392>.
16 They profess <3670> that they know <1492> God <2316>; but
in works <2041> they deny <0720> [him], being <5607> abominable
<0947>, and disobedient <0545>, and unto every <3956> good
<0018> work <2041> reprobate <0096>.
Titus 2
1. But speak <2980> thou the things which <3739> become <4241>
sound <5198> doctrine <1319>:
2 That the aged <4246> men be sober <3524>, grave <4586>,
temperate <4998>, sound <5198> in faith <4102>, in charity
<0026>, in patience <5281>.
3 The aged <4247> women <4247> likewise <5615>, that [they be]
in behaviour <2688> as becometh <2412> holiness <2412>, not
false <1228> accusers <1228>, not given <1402> to much <4183>
wine <3631>, teachers <2567> of good <2567> things;
4 That they may teach <4994> the young <3501> women to be
sober <4994>, to love <5362> their husbands <5362>, to love
<5388> their children <5388>,
5 [To be] discreet <4998>, chaste <0053>, keepers <3626> at
<3626> home <3626>, good <0018>, obedient <5293> to their own
<2398> husbands <0435>, that the word <3056> of God <2316> be
not blasphemed <0987>.
6 Young <3501> men likewise <5615> exhort <3870> to be sober
<4993> minded <4993>.
7 In all <3956> things shewing <3930> thyself <4572> a pattern
<5179> of good <2570> works <2041>: in doctrine <1319> [shewing]
uncorruptness <0090>, gravity <4587>, sincerity <0861>,
8 Sound <5199> speech <3056>, that cannot <0176> be condemned
<0176>; that he that is of the contrary <1727> part may be
ashamed <1788>, having <2192> no <3367> evil <5337> thing to say
<3004> of you.
9 [Exhort] servants <1401> to be obedient <5293> unto their
own <2398> masters <1203>, [and] to please <1511> [them] well
<2101> in all <3956> [things]; not answering <0488> again <0483>;
10 Not purloining <3557>, but shewing <1731> all <3956> good
<0018> fidelity <4102>; that they may adorn <2885> the doctrine
<1319> of God <2316> our Saviour <4990> in all <3956> things.
11. For the grace <5485> of God <2316> that bringeth <4992>
salvation <4992> hath appeared <2014> to all <3956> men <0444>,
12 Teaching <3811> us that, denying <0720> ungodliness <0763>
and worldly <2886> lusts <1939>, we should live <2198> soberly
<4996>, righteously <1346>, and godly <2153>, in this <3588>
present <3568> world <0165>;
13 Looking <4327> for that blessed <3107> hope <1680>, and the
glorious <1391> appearing <2015> of the great <3173> God <2316>
and our Saviour <4990> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>;
14 Who <3739> gave <1325> himself <1438> for us, that he might
redeem <3084> us from all <3956> iniquity <0458>, and purify
<2511> unto himself <1438> a peculiar <4041> people <2992>,
zealous <2207> of good <2570> works <2041>.
15. These <5023> things speak <2980>, and exhort <3870>, and
rebuke <1651> with all <3956> authority <2003>. Let no <3367>
man <3367> despise <4065> thee.
Titus 3
1. Put <5279> them in mind <5279> to be subject <5293> to
principalities <0746> and powers <1849>, to obey <3980>
magistrates <3980>, to be ready <2092> to every <3956> good
<0018> work <2041>,
2 To speak <0987> evil <0987> of no <3367> man <3367>, to be
no <0269> brawlers <0269>, [but] gentle <1933>, shewing <1731>
all <3956> meekness <4236> unto all <3956> men <0444>.
3 For we ourselves <2249> also <2532> were sometimes <4218>
foolish <0453>, disobedient <0545>, deceived <4105>, serving
<1398> divers <4164> lusts <1939> and pleasures <2237>, living
<1236> in malice <2549> and envy <5355>, hateful <4767>, [and]
hating <3404> one <0240> another <0240>.
4 But after <3753> that the kindness <5544> and love <5363> of
God <2316> our Saviour <4990> toward <4314> man appeared <2014>,
5 Not by works <2041> of righteousness <1343> which <3739> we
have done <4160>, but according <2596> to his mercy <1656> he
