==== <DAN1> Daniel 1
1:1. In the third <G 7969> year <G 8141> of the reign <G 4438>
of Jehoiakim <G 3079> king <G 4428> of Judah <G 3063> came <G
0935> Nebuchadnezzar <G 5019> king <G 4428> of Babylon <G 0894>
unto Jerusalem <G 3389>, and besieged <G 6696> it.
1:2 And the Lord <G 0136> gave <G 5414> Jehoiakim <G 3079> king
<G 4428> of Judah <G 3063> into his hand <G 3027>, with part <G
7117> of the vessels <G 3627> of the house <G 1004> of God <G
0430>: which he carried <G 0935> into the land <G 0776> of
Shinar <G 8152> to the house <G 1004> of his god <G 0430>; and
he brought <G 0935> the vessels <G 3627> into the treasure <G
0214> house <G 1004> of his god <G 0430>.
1:3 And the king <G 4428> spake <G 0559> unto Ashpenaz <G 0828>
the master <G 7227> of his eunuchs <G 5631>, that he should
bring <G 0935> [certain] of the children <G 1121> of Israel <G
3478>, and of the king's <G 4410> seed <G 2233>, and of the
princes <G 6579>;
1:4 Children <G 3206> in whom [was] no <G 0369> blemish <G 3971>,
but well <G 2896> favoured <G 4758>, and skilful <G 7919> in
all <G 3605> wisdom <G 2451>, and cunning <G 3045> in knowledge
<G 1847>, and understanding <G 0995> science <G 4093>, and such
as [had] ability <G 3581> in them to stand <G 5975> in the
king's <G 4428> palace <G 1964>, and whom they might teach <G
3925> the learning <G 5612> and the tongue <G 3956> of the
Chaldeans <G 3779>.
1:5 And the king <G 4428> appointed <G 4487> them a daily <G
3117> provision <G 1697> of the king's <G 4428> meat <G 6598>,
and of the wine <G 3196> which he drank <G 4960>: so nourishing
<G 1431> them three <G 7969> years <G 8141>, that at the end <G
7117> thereof they might stand <G 5975> before <G 6440> the king
<G 4428>.
1:6 Now among these <G 1992> were of the children <G 1121> of
Judah <G 3063>, Daniel <G 1840>, Hananiah <G 2608>, Mishael <G
4332>, and Azariah <G 5838>:
1:7 Unto whom <G 1992> the prince <G 8269> of the eunuchs <G
5631> gave <G 7760> names <G 8034>: for he gave <G 7760> unto
Daniel <G 1840> [the name <G 8034>] of Belteshazzar <G 1095>;
and to Hananiah <G 2608>, of Shadrach <G 7714>; and to Mishael
<G 4332>, of Meshach <G 4335>; and to Azariah <G 5838>, of
Abednego <G 5664>.
1:8. But Daniel <G 1840> purposed <G 7760> in his heart <G 3820>
that he would not defile <G 1351> himself with the portion <G
6598> of the king's <G 4428> meat <G 6598>, nor with the wine <G
3196> which he drank <G 4960>: therefore he requested <G 1245>
of the prince <G 8269> of the eunuchs <G 5631> that he might not
defile <G 1351> himself.
1:9 Now God <G 0430> had brought <G 5414> Daniel <G 1840> into
favour <G 2617> and tender love with the prince <G 8269> of the
eunuchs <G 5631>.
1:10 And the prince <G 8269> of the eunuchs <G 5631> said <G
0559> unto Daniel <G 1840>, I fear <G 3373> my lord <G 0113> the
king <G 4428>, who <G 0834> hath appointed <G 4487> your meat <G
3978> and your drink <G 4960>: for why <G 4100> should he see <G
7200> your faces <G 6440> worse <G 2196> liking than <G 4480>
the children <G 3206> which <G 0834> [are] of your sort <G
1524>? then shall ye make [me] endanger <G 2325> my head <G
7218> to the king <G 4428>.
1:11 Then said <G 0559> Daniel <G 1840> to Melzar <G 4453>, whom
<G 0834> the prince <G 8269> of the eunuchs <G 5631> had set <G
4487> over <G 5921> Daniel <G 1840>, Hananiah <G 2608>, Mishael
<G 4332>, and Azariah <G 5838>,
1:12 Prove <G 5254> thy servants <G 5650>, I beseech <G 4994>
thee, ten <G 6235> days <G 3117>; and let them give <G 5414> us
pulse <G 2235> to eat <G 0398>, and water <G 4325> to drink <G
8354>.
1:13 Then let our countenances <G 4758> be looked <G 7200> upon
before <G 6440> thee, and the countenance <G 4758> of the
children <G 3206> that eat <G 0398> of the portion <G 6598> of
the king's <G 4428> meat <G 6598>: and as thou seest <G 7200>,
deal <G 6213> with thy servants <G 5650>.
1:14 So he consented <G 8085> to them in this <G 2088> matter <G
1697>, and proved <G 5254> them ten <G 6235> days <G 3117>.
1:15 And at the end <G 7117> of ten <G 6235> days <G 3117> their
countenances <G 4758> appeared <G 7200> fairer <G 2896> and
fatter <G 1277> in flesh <G 1320> than <G 4480> all <G 3605> the
children <G 3206> which did eat <G 0398> the portion <G 6598> of
the king's <G 4428> meat <G 6598>.
1:16 Thus Melzar <G 4453> took <G 5375> away the portion <G
6598> of their meat <G 6598>, and the wine <G 3196> that they
should drink <G 4960>; and gave <G 5414> them pulse <G 2235>.
1:17. As for these <G 0428> four <G 0702> children <G 3206>, God
<G 0430> gave <G 5414> them knowledge <G 4093> and skill <G
7919> in all <G 3605> learning <G 5612> and wisdom <G 2451>: and
Daniel <G 1840> had understanding <G 0995> in all <G 3605>
visions <G 2377> and dreams <G 2472>.
1:18 Now at the end <G 7117> of the days <G 3117> that the king
<G 4428> had said <G 0559> he should bring <G 0935> them in,
then the prince <G 8269> of the eunuchs <G 5631> brought <G
0935> them in before <G 6440> Nebuchadnezzar <G 5019>.
1:19 And the king <G 4428> communed <G 1696> with them; and
among them all <G 3605> was found <G 4672> none <G 3808> like
Daniel <G 1840>, Hananiah <G 2608>, Mishael <G 4332>, and
Azariah <G 5838>: therefore stood <G 5975> they before <G 6440>
the king <G 4428>.
1:20 And in all <G 3605> matters <G 1697> of wisdom <G 2451>
[and] understanding <G 0998>, that the king <G 4428> enquired <G
1245> of them, he found <G 4672> them ten <G 6235> times better
<G 3027> than <G 5921> all <G 3605> the magicians <G 2748> [and]
astrologers <G 0825> that [were] in all <G 3605> his realm <G
4438>.
1:21 And Daniel <G 1840> continued <G 1961> [even] unto the
first <G 0259> year <G 8141> of king <G 4428> Cyrus <G 3566>.
==== <DAN2> Daniel 2
2:1. And in the second <G 8147> year <G 8141> of the reign <G
4438> of Nebuchadnezzar <G 5019> Nebuchadnezzar <G 5019> dreamed
<G 2492> dreams <G 2472>, wherewith his spirit <G 7307> was
troubled <G 6470>, and his sleep <G 8142> brake <G 1961> from
him.
2:2 Then the king <G 4428> commanded <G 0559> to call <G 7121>
the magicians <G 2748>, and the astrologers <G 0825>, and the
sorcerers <G 3784>, and the Chaldeans <G 3779>, for to shew <G
5046> the king <G 4428> his dreams <G 2472>. So they came <G
0935> and stood <G 5975> before <G 6440> the king <G 4428>.
2:3 And the king <G 4428> said <G 0559> unto them, I have
dreamed <G 2492> a dream <G 2472>, and my spirit <G 7307> was
troubled <G 6470> to know <G 3045> the dream <G 2472>.
2:4 Then spake <G 1696> the Chaldeans <G 3779> to the king <G
4428> in Syriack <G 0762>, O king <G 4430>, live <G 2418> for
ever <G 5957>: tell <G 0560> thy servants <G 5649> the dream <G
2493>, and we will shew <G 2324> the interpretation <G 6591>.
2:5 The king <G 4430> answered <G 6032> and said <G 0560> to the
Chaldeans <G 3779>, The thing <G 4406> is gone <G 0230> from me:
if <G 2006> ye will not make known <G 3046> unto me the dream <G
2493>, with the interpretation <G 6591> thereof, ye shall be cut
<G 5648> in pieces <G 1917>, and your houses <G 1005> shall be
made <G 7761> a dunghill <G 5122>.
