2Peter 1

  • 1. Simon <4613> Peter <4074>, a servant <1401> and an apostle
  • <652>
  • of Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>, to them that have obtained <2975>
  • like <2472> precious <2472> faith <4102> with us through <1722>
  • the
  • righteousness <1343> of God <2316> and our Saviour <4990> Jesus
  • <2424> Christ <5547>:
  • 2 Grace <5485> and peace <1515> be multiplied <4129> unto you
  • through <1722> the knowledge <1922> of God <2316>, and of Jesus
  • <2424> our Lord <2962>,
  • 3 According <5613> as his divine <2304> power <1411> hath given
  • <1433> unto us all <3956> things that [pertain] unto life <2222>
  • and
  • godliness <2150>, through <1223> the knowledge <1922> of him that
  • hath called <2564> us to glory <1391> and virtue <703>:
  • 4 Whereby <3739> are given <1433> unto us exceeding great
  • <3176>
  • and precious <5093> promises <1862>: that by these <5130> ye
  • might
  • be partakers <2844> of the divine <2304> nature <5449>, having
  • escaped <668> the corruption <5356> that is in the world <2889>
  • through <1722> lust <1939>.
  • 5. And beside <846> this <5124>, giving <3923> all diligence
  • <4710>, add <2023> to your <5216> faith <4102> virtue <703>; and
  • to
  • virtue <703> knowledge <1108>;
  • 6 And to knowledge <1108> temperance <1466>; and to temperance
  • <1466> patience <5281>; and to patience <5281> godliness <2150>;
  • 7 And to godliness <2150> brotherly <5360> kindness <5360>;
  • and to
  • brotherly <5360> kindness <5360> charity <26>.
  • 8 For if these <5023> things be in you, and abound <4121>, they
  • make <2525> [you that ye shall] neither <3756> [be] barren <692>
  • nor
  • <3761> unfruitful <175> in the knowledge <1922> of our Lord
  • <2962>
  • Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>.
  • 9 But he that lacketh <3918> these <5023> things is blind
  • <5185>,
  • and cannot <3467> see <3467> afar <3467> off, and hath forgotten
  • <2983> that he was purged <2512> from his old <3819> sins <266>.
  • 10 Wherefore <1352> the rather <3123>, brethren <80>, give
  • diligence <4710> to make <4160> your <5216> calling <2821> and
  • election <1589> sure <949>: for if ye do <4160> these <5023>
  • things,
  • ye shall never <4219> fall <4417>:
  • 11 For so <3779> an entrance <1529> shall be ministered <2023>
  • unto you abundantly <4146> into <1519> the everlasting <166>
  • kingdom
  • <932> of our Lord <2962> and Saviour <4990> Jesus <2424> Christ
  • <5547>.
  • 12. Wherefore <1352> I will not be negligent <272> to put <5279>
  • you always <104> in remembrance <5179> of these <5130> things,
  • though <2539> ye know <1492> [them], and be established <4741> in
  • the present <3918> truth <225>.
  • 13 Yea <1161>, I think <2233> it meet <1342>, as long as I am
  • <1510> in this <5129> tabernacle <4638>, to stir <1326> you up by
  • putting <5279> [you] in remembrance <5280>;
  • 14 Knowing <1492> that shortly <5031> I must put <595> off
  • <595>
  • [this <3588>] my tabernacle <4638>, even <2532> as our Lord
  • <2962>
  • Jesus <2424> Christ <5547> hath shewed <1213> me.
  • 15 Moreover <2532> I will endeavour <4704> that ye may be able
  • <2192> after <3326> my decease <1841> to have these <5130> things
  • always <1539> in remembrance <3420>.
  • 16. For we have not followed <1811> cunningly devised <4679>
  • fables
  • <3454>, when we made <1107> known <1107> unto you the power
  • <1411>
  • and coming <3952> of our Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>,
  • but
  • were eyewitnesses <2030> of his majesty <3168>.
  • 17 For he received <2983> from God <2316> the Father <3962>
  • honour
  • <5092> and glory <1391>, when there came <5342> such <5107> a
  • voice
  • <5456> to him from the excellent <3169> glory <1391>, This
  • <3778> is
  • my beloved <27> Son <5207>, in whom <3739> I am well <2106>
  • pleased
  • <2106>.
  • 18 And this <5026> voice <5456> which came <5342> from heaven
  • <3772> we heard <191>, when we were with him in the holy <40>
  • mount
  • <3735>.
  • 19. We have <2192> also <2532> a more sure <949> word <3056> of
  • prophecy <4397>; whereunto <3739> ye do <4160> well <2573> that
  • ye
  • take heed <433>, as unto a light <3088> that shineth <5316> in a
  • dark <850> place <5117>, until <2193> the day <2250> dawn <1306>,
  • and the day <5459> star <5459> arise <393> in your <5216> hearts
  • <2588>:
  • 20 Knowing <1097> this <5124> first <4412>, that no <3756>
  • prophecy <4394> of the scripture <1124> is of any private <2398>
  • interpretation <1955>.
  • 21 For the prophecy <4394> came <5342> not in old <4218> time
  • <4218> by the will <2307> of man <444>: but holy <40> men <444>
  • of
  • God <2316> spake <2980> [as they were] moved <5342> by the Holy
  • <40>
  • Ghost <4151>.
  • 2Peter 2
  • 1. But there were false <5578> prophets <5578> also <2532> among
  • <1722> the people <2992>, even <2532> as there shall be false
  • <5572>
  • teachers <5572> among <1722> you, who <3748> privily <3919> shall
  • bring <3918> in damnable <684> heresies <139>, even <2532>
  • denying
  • <720> the Lord <1203> that bought <59> them, and bring <3918>
  • upon
  • themselves <1438> swift <5031> destruction <684>.
  • 2 And many <4183> shall follow <1811> their pernicious <684>
  • ways
  • <684>; by reason <1223> of whom <3739> the way <3598> of truth
  • <225>
  • shall be evil <987> spoken <987> of.
  • 3. And through <1722> covetousness <4124> shall they with
  • feigned
  • <4112> words <3056> make <1710> merchandise of you: whose <3739>
  • judgment <2917> now of a long time <1597> lingereth <691> not,
  • and
  • their damnation <684> slumbereth <3573> not.
  • 4 For if <1487> God <2316> spared <5339> not the angels <32>
  • that
  • sinned <264>, but cast <5020> [them] down to hell <5020>, and
  • delivered <3860> [them] into chains <4577> of darkness <2217>,
  • to be
  • reserved <5083> unto judgment <2920>;
  • 5 And spared <5339> not the old <744> world <2889>, but saved
  • <5442> Noah <3575> the eighth <3590> [person], a preacher <2783>
  • of
  • righteousness <1343>, bringing <1863> in the flood <2627> upon
  • the
  • world <2889> of the ungodly <765>;
  • 6 And turning <5077> the cities <4172> of Sodom <4670> and
  • Gomorrha <1116> into ashes <5077> condemned <2632> [them] with an
  • overthrow <2692>, making <4160> [them] an ensample <5262> unto
  • those
  • <3588> that after <3195> should <3195> live ungodly <764>;
  • 7. And delivered <4506> just <1342> Lot <3091>, vexed <2669>
  • with
  • the filthy <766> conversation <391> of the wicked <113>:
  • 8 (For that righteous <1342> man dwelling <1460> among <1722>
  • them, in seeing <990> and hearing <189>, vexed <928> [his]
  • righteous
  • <1342> soul <5590> from day <2250> to day <2250> with [their]
  • unlawful <459> deeds <2041>;)
  • 9 The Lord <2962> knoweth <1492> how to deliver <4506> the
  • godly
  • <2152> out of temptations <3986>, and to reserve <5083> the
  • unjust
  • <94> unto the day <2250> of judgment <2920> to be punished
  • <2849>:
  • 10. But chiefly <3122> them that walk <4198> after <3694> the
  • flesh
  • <4561> in the lust <1939> of uncleanness <3394>, and despise
  • <2706>
  • government <2963>. Presumptuous <5113> [are they], selfwilled
  • <829>,
  • they are not afraid <5141> to speak <987> evil <987> of dignities
  • <1391>.
  • 11 Whereas <3699> angels <32>, which are greater <3187> in
  • power
  • <2479> and might <1411>, bring <5342> not railing <989>
  • accusation
  • <2920> against <2596> them before <3844> the Lord <2962>.
  • 12 But these <3778>, as natural <5446> brute <249> beasts
  • <2226>,
  • made <1080> to be taken <259> and destroyed <5356>, speak <987>
  • evil
  • <987> of the things that they understand <50> not; and shall
  • utterly
  • <2704> perish <2704> in their own <848> corruption <5356>;
  • 13 And shall receive <2865> the reward <3408> of
  • unrighteousness
  • <93>, [as] they that count <2233> it pleasure <2237> to riot
  • <5172>
  • in the day <2250> time. Spots <4696> [they are] and blemishes
  • <3470>, sporting <1792> themselves with their own <848>
  • deceivings
  • <539> while they feast <4910> with you;
  • 14 Having <2192> eyes <3788> full <3324> of adultery <3428>,
  • and
  • that cannot <180> cease <180> from sin <266>; beguiling <1185>
  • unstable <793> souls <5590>: an heart <2588> they have <2192>
  • exercised <1128> with covetous <4124> practices; cursed <2671>
  • children <5043>:
  • 15 Which have forsaken <2641> the right <2117> way <3598>, and
  • are
  • gone <4105> astray <4105>, following <1811> the way <3598> of
  • Balaam
  • <903> [the son] of Bosor <1007>, who <3739> loved <25> the wages
  • <3408> of unrighteousness <93>;
  • 16 But was rebuked <1649> for his iniquity <3892>: the dumb
  • <880>
  • ass <5268> speaking <5350> with man's <444> voice <5456> forbad
  • <2967> the madness <3913> of the prophet <4396>.
  • 17 These <3778> are wells <4077> without <504> water <504>,
  • clouds
  • <3507> that are carried <1643> with a tempest <2978>; to whom
  • <3739>
  • the mist <2217> of darkness <4655> is reserved <5083> for ever
  • <165>.
  • 18 For when they speak <5350> great <5246> swelling <5246>
  • [words]
  • of vanity <3153>, they allure <1185> through <1722> the lusts
  • <1939>
  • of the flesh <4561>, [through much] wantonness <766>, those
  • <3588>
  • that were clean <3689> escaped <668> from them who live <390> in
  • error <4106>.
  • 19 While they promise <1861> them liberty <1657>, they
  • themselves
  • <846> are the servants <1401> of corruption <5356>: for of whom
  • <3739> a man <5100> is overcome <2274>, of the same <3778> is he
  • brought <1402> in bondage <1402>.
  • 20 For if <1487> after they have escaped <668> the pollutions
  • <3393> of the world <2889> through <1722> the knowledge <1922> of
  • the Lord <2962> and Saviour <4990> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>,
  • they
  • are again <3825> entangled <1707> therein <5125>, and overcome
  • <2274>, the latter <2078> end <2078> is worse <5501> with them
  • than
  • the beginning <4413>.
  • 21 For it had been <2258> better <2909> for them not to have
  • known
  • <1921> the way <3598> of righteousness <1343>, than <2228>, after
  • they have known <1921> [it], to turn <1994> from the holy <40>
  • commandment <1785> delivered <3860> unto them.
  • 22 But it is happened <4819> unto them according to the true
  • <227>
  • proverb <3942>, The dog <2965> [is] turned <1994> to his own
  • <2398>
  • vomit <1829> again <1994>; and the sow <5300> that was washed
  • <3068>
  • to her wallowing <2946> in the mire <1004>.
  • 2Peter 3
  • 1. This <5026> second <1208> epistle <1992>, beloved <27>, I now
  • <2236> write <1125> unto you; in [both] which <3739> I stir
  • <1326>
  • up your <5216> pure <1506> minds <1271> by way <1722> of
  • remembrance
  • <5280>:
  • 2 That ye may be mindful <3403> of the words <4487> which were
  • spoken <4280> before <4280> by the holy <40> prophets <4396>,
  • and of
  • the commandment <1785> of us the apostles <652> of the Lord
  • <2962>
  • and Saviour <4990>:
  • 3. Knowing <1097> this <5124> first <4412>, that there shall
  • come
  • <2064> in the last <2078> days <2250> scoffers <1703>, walking
  • <4198> after <2596> their own <2398> lusts <1939>,
  • 4 And saying <3004>, Where <4226> is the promise <1860> of his
  • coming <3952>? for since <3739> the fathers <3962> fell asleep
  • <2837>, all <3956> things continue <1265> as [they were] from the
  • beginning <746> of the creation <2937>.
  • 5 For this <5124> they willingly <2309> are ignorant <2990> of,
  • that by the word <3056> of God <2316> the heavens <3772> were of
  • old
  • <1597>, and the earth <1093> standing <4921> out of the water
  • <5204>
  • and in the water <5204>:
  • 6 Whereby <3739> the world <2889> that then <5119> was, being
  • overflowed <2626> with water <5204>, perished <622>:
  • 7 But the heavens <3772> and the earth <1093>, which are now
  • <3568>, by the same <846> word <3056> are kept <2343> in store
  • <2343>, reserved <5083> unto fire <4442> against <1519> the day
  • <2250> of judgment <2920> and perdition <684> of ungodly <765>
  • men
  • <444>.
  • 8. But, beloved <27>, be not ignorant <2990> of this <5124> one
  • <1520> thing, that one <3391> day <2250> [is] with the Lord
  • <2962>
  • as a thousand <5507> years <2094>, and a thousand <5507> years
  • <2094> as one <3391> day <2250>.
  • 9. The Lord <2962> is not slack <1019> concerning <4314> his
  • promise <1860>, as some <5100> men count <2233> slackness <1022>;
  • but is longsuffering to us-ward <2248>, not willing <1014> that
  • any
  • <5100> should perish <622>, but that all <3956> should come
  • <5562>
  • to repentance <3341>.
  • 10 But the day <2250> of the Lord <2962> will come <2240> as a
  • thief <2812> in the night <3571>; in the which <3739> the heavens
  • <3772> shall pass <3928> away with a great noise <4500>, and the
  • elements <4747> shall melt <3089> with fervent heat <2741>, the
  • earth <1093> also <2532> and the works <2041> that are therein
  • <846>
  • shall be burned <2618> up.
  • 11. [Seeing] then <3767> [that] all <3956> these <5130> things
  • shall be dissolved <3089>, what <4217> manner <4217> [of persons]
  • ought <1163> ye to be in [all] holy <40> conversation <391> and
  • godliness <2150>,
  • 12 Looking <4328> for and hasting <4692> unto the coming
  • <3952> of
  • the day <2250> of God <2316>, wherein <3757> the heavens <3772>
  • being on fire <4448> shall be dissolved <3089>, and the elements
  • <4747> shall melt <5080> with fervent heat <2741>?
  • 13 Nevertheless <1161> we, according <2596> to his promise
  • <1862>,
  • look <4328> for new <2537> heavens <3772> and a new <2537> earth
  • <1093>, wherein <3757> dwelleth <2730> righteousness <1343>.
  • 14 Wherefore <1352>, beloved <27>, seeing that ye look <4328>
  • for
  • such <5023> things, be diligent <4704> that ye may be found
  • <2147>
  • of him in peace <1515>, without <784> spot <784>, and blameless
  • <298>.
  • 15 And account <2233> [that] the longsuffering <3115> of our
  • Lord
  • <2962> [is] salvation <4991>; even <2531> as our beloved <27>
  • brother <80> Paul <3972> also <2532> according <2596> to the
  • wisdom
  • <4678> given <1325> unto him hath written <1125> unto you;
  • 16 As also <2532> in all <3956> [his] epistles <1992>, speaking
  • <2980> in them of these <5130> things; in which <3739> are some
  • <5100> things hard <1425> to be understood <1425>, which <3739>
  • they
  • that are unlearned <261> and unstable <793> wrest <4761>, as
  • [they
  • do] also <2532> the other <3062> scriptures <1124>, unto their
  • own
  • <2398> destruction <684>.
  • 17 Ye therefore <3767>, beloved <27>, seeing ye know <4267>
  • [these
  • things] before <4267>, beware <5442> lest <3361> ye also <4879>,
  • being led <4879> away <4879> with the error <4106> of the wicked
  • <113>, fall <1601> from your <3588> own <2398> stedfastness
  • <4740>.
  • 18 But grow <837> in grace <5485>, and [in] the knowledge
  • <1108>
  • of our Lord <2962> and Saviour <4990> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>.
  • To
  • him [be] glory <1391> both <2532> now <3568> and for ever <165>.
  • Amen <281>.
