not in vain 2756 -kenos :
:2 But even 2532 -kai after that we had suffered 4310 -
propascho before 4310 -propascho , and were shamefully 5195 -
hubrizo entreated 5195 -hubrizo , as ye know 1492 -eido , at
1722 -en Philippi 5375 -Philippoi , we were bold 3955 -
parrhesiazomai in our God 2316 -theos to speak 2980 -laleo unto
you the gospel 2098 -euaggelion of God 2316 -theos with much
4183 -polus contention 0073 -agon .
:3 For our exhortation 3874 -paraklesis [was] not of deceit
4106 -plane , nor 3761 -oude of uncleanness 0167 -akatharsia ,
nor 3777 -oute in guile 1388 -dolos :
:4 But as we were allowed 1381 -dokimazo of God 2316 -theos to
be put 4160 -poieo in trust 4100 -pisteuo with the gospel 2098 -
euaggelion , even so 3779 -houto we speak 2980 -laleo ; not as
pleasing 0700 -aresko men 0444 -anthropos , but God 2316 -theos ,
which trieth 1381 -dokimazo our hearts 2588 -kardia .
:5 For neither 3777 -oute at 4218 -pote any 4218 -pote time
4218 -pote used 1722 -en we flattering 2850 -kolakeia words 3056
-logos , as ye know 1492 -eido , nor 3777 -oute a cloke 4392 -
prophasis of covetousness 4124 -pleonexia ; God 2316 -theos [is]
witness 3144 -martus :
:6 Nor 3777 -oute of men 0444 -anthropos sought 2212 -zeteo we
glory 1391 -doxa , neither 3777 -oute of you, nor 3777 -oute
[yet] of others 0243 -allos , when we might 1410 -dunamai have
been burdensome 0922 -baros , as the apostles 0652 -apostolos of
Christ 5547 -Christos .
:7 But we were gentle 2261 -epios among 3319 -mesos you, even
as a nurse 5162 -trophos cherisheth 2282 -thalpo her children

:8 So 3779 -houto being affectionately 2442 -himeiromai
desirous 2442 -himeiromai of you, we were willing 2106 -eudokeo

:9 For ye remember 3421 -mnemoneuo , brethren 0080 -adephos ,
our labour 2873 -kopos and travail 3449 -mochthos : for
labouring 2873 -kopos night 3571 -nux and day 2250 -hemera ,
because 4314 -pros we would not be chargeable 1912 -epibareo
unto any 5100 -tis of you, we preached 2784 -kerusso unto you

:10 Ye [are] witnesses 3144 -martus , and God 2316 -theos [also
2532 -kai ], how 5613 -hos holily 3743 -hosios and justly 1346 -
dikaios and unblameably 0274 -amemptos we behaved 1096 -ginomai
ourselves among you that believe 4100 -pisteuo :
:11 As ye know 1492 -eido how 5613 -hos we exhorted and
comforted 3888 -paramutheomai and charged 3146 -mastigoo every
1538 -hekastos one 1520 -heis of you, as a father 3962 -pater
[doth] his children 5043 -teknon ,
:12 That ye would walk 4043 -peripateo worthy 0516 -axios of
God 2316 -theos , who 3588 -ho hath called 2564 -kaleo you unto
his kingdom 0932 -basileia and glory 1391 -doxa .
:13 For this 5124 -touto cause 1223 -dia also 2532 -kai thank

ceasing 0089 -adialeiptos , because 3754 -hoti , when ye
received 3880 -paralambano the word 3056 -logos of God 2316 -

dechomai [it] not [as] the word 3056 -logos of men 0444 -
anthropos , but as it is in truth 0230 -alethos , the word 3056 -

energeo worketh 1754 -energeo also 2532 -kai in you that believe
4100 -pisteuo .
:14 For ye, brethren 0080 -adephos , became 1096 -ginomai
followers 3402 -mimetes of the churches 1577 -ekklesia of God
2316 -theos which 3588 -ho in Judaea 2449 -Ioudaia are in Christ
5547 -Christos Jesus 2424 -Iesous : for ye also 2532 -kai have
suffered 3958 -pascho like 5024 -tauta things of your 2398 -
idios own 2398 -idios countrymen 4853 -sumphuletes , even 2532 -
kai as they [have] of the Jews 2453 -Ioudaios :

:16 Forbidding 2967 -koluo us to speak 2980 -laleo to the
Gentiles 1484 -ethnos that they might be saved 4982 -sozo , to
fill 0378 -anapleroo up their sins 0266 -hamartia alway 0104 -
aei : for the wrath 3709 -orge is come 5348 -phthano upon them
to the uttermost 5056 -telos .
:17 But we, brethren 0080 -adephos , being taken 0642 -
aporphanizo from you for a short 5610 -hora time 2540 -kairos in
presence 4383 -prosopon , not in heart 2588 -kardia ,
endeavoured 4704 -spoudazo the more 4056 -perissoteros
abundantly 4056 -perissoteros to see 1492 -eido your 5216 -humon
face 4383 -prosopon with great 4183 -polus desire 1939 -
epithumia .
:18 Wherefore 1352 -dio we would 2309 -thelo have come 2064 -
erchomai unto you, even 3303 -men I Paul 3972 -Paulos , once
0530 -hapax and again 1364 -dis ; but Satan 4567 -Satanas
hindered 1465 -egkopto us.
:19 For what 5101 -tis [is] our hope 1680 -elpis , or 2228 -e
joy 5479 -chara , or 2228 -e crown 4735 -stephanos of rejoicing
2746 -kauchesis ? [Are] not even 2532 -kai ye in the presence
1715 -emprosthen of our Lord 2962 -kurios Jesus 2424 -Iesous

:20 For ye are our glory 1391 -doxa and joy 5479 -chara .
