hundred <3969 ma>ah > and twenty <6243 <esriyn > princes <0324
>achashdarpan >, which <1768 diy > should be over the whole
<3606 kol > kingdom <4437 malkuw >;
2 And over <5924 <ella> > these <4481 min > three <8532 t@lath
> presidents <5632 carek >; of whom Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >
[was] first <2298 chad >: that the princes <0324 >achashdarpan >
might give <3052 y@hab > accounts <2941 ta<am > unto them, and
the king <4430 melek > should have <1934 hava> > no <3809 la> >

3 Then <0116 >edayin > this <1836 den > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >
was preferred <5330 n@tsach > above <5922 <al > the presidents
<5632 carek > and princes <0324 >achashdarpan >, because an
excellent <3493 yattiyr > spirit <7308 ruwach > [was] in him;
and the king <4430 melek > thought <6246 <ashith > to set <3966
m@<od > him over <5922 <al > the whole <3606 kol > realm <4437
malkuw >.
4 Then <0116 >edayin > the presidents <5632 carek > and princes
<0324 >achashdarpan > sought <1158 ba<ah > to find <7912 sh@kach
> occasion <5931 <illah > against Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >
concerning <6655 tsad > the kingdom <4437 malkuw >; but they

occasion <5931 <illah > nor <3809 la> > fault <7844 sh@chath >;
forasmuch as he [was] faithful <0540 >aman >, neither <3809 la>

7 All <3606 kol > the presidents <5632 carek > of the kingdom
<4437 malkuw >, the governors <5461 cagan >, and the princes
<0324 >achashdarpan >, the counsellors <1907 haddabar >, and the
captains <6347 pechah >, have consulted <3272 y@<at > together
to establish <6966 quwm > a royal <4430 melek > statute <7010
q@yam >, and to make a firm <8631 t@qeph > decree <0633 >ecar >,
that whosoever <3605 kol > shall ask <1156 b@<a> > a petition

9 Wherefore king <4430 melek > Darius <1868 Dar@yavesh > signed

10 Now <1768 diy > when <1768 diy > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >
knew <3046 y@da< > that the writing <3792 k@thab > was signed

Daniye>l > praying <1156 b@<a> > and making supplication <2604
chanan > before <6925 qodam > his God <0426 >elahh >.
12 Then <0116 >edayin > they came <7127 q@reb > near <7127
q@reb >, and spake <0560 >amar > before <6925 qodam > the king
<4430 melek > concerning <5922 <al > the king's <4430 melek >
decree <0633 >ecar >; Hast thou not signed <7560 r@sham > a
decree <0633 >ecar >, that every <3606 kol > man <0606 >enash >
that shall ask <1156 b@<a> > [a petition] of any <3606 kol > God

<0560 >amar > before <6925 qodam > the king <4430 melek >, That
Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >, which <1768 diy > [is] of the children
<1123 ben > of the captivity <1547 galuwth > of Judah <3061
Y@huwd >, regardeth not thee, O king <4430 melek >, nor the
decree <0633 >ecar > that thou hast signed <7560 r@sham >, but
maketh his petition <1159 ba<uw > three <8532 t@lath > times

14 Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek >, when <1768 diy

king <4430 melek >, that the law <1882 dath > of the Medes <4076
Maday > and Persians <6540 Parac > [is], That no decree <0633
>ecar > nor statute <7010 q@yam > which <1768 diy > the king
<4430 melek > establisheth <6966 quwm > may be changed <8133
sh@na> >.
16 Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek > commanded <0560
>amar >, and they brought <0858 >athah > Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >,
and cast <7412 r@mah > [him] into the den <1358 gob > of lions
<0744 >aryeh >. [Now <0116 >edayin >] the king <4430 melek >
spake <6032 <anah > and said <0560 >amar > unto Daniel <1841
Daniye>l >, Thy God <0426 >elahh > whom <1768 diy > thou servest

17 And a stone <69> was brought <0858 >athah >, and laid <7760
suwm > upon the mouth <6433 pum > of the den <1358 gob >; and
the king <4430 melek > sealed <2857 chatham > it with his own
signet <5824 <izqa> >, and with the signet <5824 <izqa> > of his
lords <7261 rabr@ban >; that the purpose <6640 ts@buw > might
not be changed <8133 sh@na> > concerning Daniel <1841 Daniye>l >.
18. Then <0116 >edayin > the king <4430 melek > went <0236
>azal > to his palace <1965 heykal >, and passed the night <0956
